I used to dread the editing and retouching part of photography. When I went to college for photography it was pretty much all film (yeah, I'm older than you think I am, haha!) so retouching in Photoshop wasn't a thing. However, over the years I have really begun to enjoy it. It's fun to see an already awesome shot and then make it better! This is something I recently added to my resume... retouching for other photographers (weddings, real estate, portraits, you name it!).
This shot is one that I took last weekend of my baby girl. I've been dying to try out this spot...I pass it a few times...

Well, whether we are ready or not, fall is around the corner. Before yesterday, our area of Kentucky was in a drought. I have noticed many of the trees turning colors and dying too early due to the dry weather! Nooo...that's the best part of the fall is the fall foilage!
Anyway, I am looking over my fall calendar today and gearing up for family portraits before the holidays. If you are in SWFL, I'll be making a quick trip back and would love to set something up with you! Shoot me a text or email (info below). :)
Kentuckians, I'll be here with some great location and portrait ideas....

I can't believe we are already in October, what happened to the summer?! So now the craziness really begins...holidays are right around the corner! But as our schedules pick up, don't forget to get your family portraits taken. Those little kiddos change and grow so fast, you definitely want to capture those precious moments before they are off to college (in a blink!).
I got to photograph this beautiful family while they were out here on vacation/family visit. A special time too, since the kiddos were both celebrating birthdays (turning three and one). They were such a blast, the sweet...

This beautiful baby girl grew up in just a blink of an eye! I had so much fun looking back through our year of photo sessions (I definitely recommend capturing these 4 stages: newborn, 3-4 months, 6-8 months, and one year). We did a variety of locations, plenty of fun/adorable outfits, and added mom, dad, and sister into the portraits as well.
So here is a little sampling of each session starting with Harper's newborn portraits... <3

So....I haven't posted anything to my blog is 5 months, yikes! I'm definitely slacking on it and I have so many shoots I'm dying to get up here (and hopefully I will!).
I never announced on here or my photography facebook page that my husband and I are expecting out first child in just a few weeks, yay! We are super excited and have been busy the past few months getting ready for his (it's a boy!) arrival in March.
I thought I'd kick off my blog again with the maternity photos I attempted to take of us a couple weeks ago. I would definitely recommend you hire me to take them ;) and don't...

This little guy was absolutely adorable to photograph. It did take a little convincing, a lot of bribery, and a smidge of trickery (hee, hee) to get him to agree to taking some photos (wait a minute, my husband's the same way...hmmmm), but in the end I feel as though we both won. :) I got some cute kid portraits and he had a little fun (or at least I hope he did! haha).
The weather is a bit chilly right now in January here in Wyoming, so we did opt for the studio on this particular day. Thus, since we were in my studio, we had perfect lighting and the weather was ideal! ;-) (The benefit...

It's 2015 already! Christmas is over :( and I'm seeing not much point to the snow anymore, haha! But since it is here, I might as well stay warm inside and catch up on a little blogging.
I'll start with this girl, my niece, who I've been photographing for 10+ years now, who still loves to challenge me when it comes to taking her pictures! Haha...it has always been her idea vs. mine (she wins 90% of the time). :)
She was our first official visitor out here in Wyoming and she got to stay with us for a couple weeks. In addition to crafts, exploring, and four-wheeling, I talked her into doing...

Preparing for Senior Portraits:
There are lots of lists and tips out there but here are a few things I recommend, as you get ready to have your senior portraits taken.
Find a Photographer. First things first, you need to find the right photographer for YOU! I definitely know my style isn’t for everyone, so it is important you check around and see what you like best. Ask to see the images of an entire senior session (not just the one photo that is on display). It’s also important that you are comfortable with your photographer, someone who puts you at ease. I remember when I was having...

Christmas is 89 days away! Which means I get to start decorating next month (yes, I decorate super early!!!). Which also means it is time to start thinking about your family portraits for the holidays!
I just took some photos of my niece with all the fall foliage out here in Wyoming and Montana...so if you want those beautiful fall colors in your family portraits, RIGHT NOW is a great time! If you want a snowy theme family photo, I have a feeling we only have to wait a week or two. ;) We can also do studio portraits if you want to keep it inside.

I love photographing these little kiddos! These two sweet little sisters are always such a joy to photograph, they give me endless beautiful expressions and definitely keep me on my toes. We took all these baby portraits at my studio, using a few props I had on hand along with their super cute wardrobe.
I really enjoy being able to photograph each stage of a child's life...they change so much in a short amount of time. And while there is nothing like photographing children out in nature, I think it is just important to get some studio portraits taken too.
So get ready for some awwwing over...
